Cruising the glorious River Nile from Cairo to Aswan is possible but only by a select few specially modified Nile cruise boats.
Cruising the length of the Nile is split into specific navigable sections rather than a single continuous voyage. This is for a variety of reasons but mainly due to cataracts (rapids), dams and locks. You certainly cannot sail from the river’s absolute source to its mouth on one ship. The whole length of the river can be traversed in Egypt though, from the estuary in Cairo, to the Aswan High Dam. This is where the river temporarily becomes Lake Nasser and takes you to the Sudan border, where the lake becomes Lake Nubia and beyond to where the river returns.
The longest river cruise available is the ‘Original Long Nile Cruise’ that sails the 600-mile stretch between Cairo and Aswan (or vice-versa). This rare route takes you beyond the usual tourist trail to see hidden gems like Abydos, Dendera, Amarna and Beni Hassan. Only specialized, low-draft vessels can navigate the full river length, such as the MS Darakum.

We are proud to have received so many positive reviews from our customers. Here are just a few of the things they have said about us.
This was our third stay in Rixos Sharm el Sheikh. The complex is well run by a team of dedicated friendly staff that make one feel welcome at all times.
The experience overall was amazing. The Pyramid Valley Hotel is the perfect location for visiting the sites of Giza with a free view of the Pyramids lightshow from the rooftop restaurant. The MS Royal Viking was a lovely ship.
